Traditional pads are 90% plastic and 10% cotton, containing the same amount of plastic as 4 plastic bags in a single menstrual pad. Ruth pads are made from 93% renewable, bio-based materials, including kenaf fibre, bamboo fibre, cellulose, and starch based bioplastic.

Kenaf is renewable, eco-friendly, energy and resource efficient, high quality fibre. Kenaf fibre production has a carbon footprint 5.3x less than cotton and a water footprint nearly 3x smaller than cotton.

We currently have our pads manufactured in India because the natural fibres used in our products are sourced there locally.
